Flights generally leave Boston in the evening flying overnight and arriving in Bulgaria the next day. *Travel is on major airlines (such as: Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, British Airways, etc) with one stop layovers in a major European city (London, Paris, Munich, etc.). Travel time includes around 10 hours in air
Day 2: Arrive in Bulgaria
Arrive in Sofia and drive to the Stone & Compass Center in Stolat, Bulgaria
Day 3-7: Barn Razing!
There’s a broken down barn (Not the one pictured!) just past the pool that is usually overgrown during the Summer. For most of this trip, we’ll spend our days tearing down that old barn.
Evenings, we’ll spend eating and drinking around the fire pit, watching the stars.
Somewhere in days 3-7: Veliko Tarnovo
We’ll have at least one day to rest and explore Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. Climb the steps of the medieval fortress of Tsarevets for panoramic views of this city and the river that winds around it. Inside the reconstructed church atop the fortress you will see unique modern frescoes reflecting the long history of this site. We’ll stroll the shop-lined promenade and have a nice dinner while in town.
Day 8: Travel to Sofia for departure
Head back to Sofia and catch the flight home. Maybe physically exhausted, but feeling refreshed after a job well done!
