NOTE: This trip is SOLD OUT!
From August 3rd to 10th Stone & Compass will be running its first Bulgaria Unplugged Tour. The aim of this trip is to promote community and growth in a setting where the wonder and beauty of nature forms the setting for our time together. Participants and staff undertake a variety of challenges in which age and experience determine the degree of difficulty. We strive to build a sense of mutual dependence and cultural understanding as we share in preparing meals, serving others, and helping one another on the trails. The week is focused on challenging hikes on well-maintained trails in the Balkan Mountain Range, sightseeing, and community service. Previous hiking experience is not necessary. The only requirements are an interest in the outdoors, a willingness to be a cooperative member of the team, and good general health.
The Bulgaria Unplugged tour in August is comprised of 50 guests, ranging from ages 6 to 80. Stone & Compass will offer multiple activities and trips each day to allow people to tailor the trip to their own interests. A main focus of this particular trip is the youth. We currently have 18 youth participants, both male and female, ranging from age 14 to 20, who will participate in several hiking trips and a service-learning project.
Our main meals will be catered by Dan Kolov’s, a restaurant and inn located in the village of Senik a quick 8 minute drive from The Center, Dan Kolov creates traditional Bulgarian dishes from scratch. Other meals may be in restaurants in nearby cities depending on the activities that day. In addition to the main trips each day has to offer, there will be youth activities held at the center to encourage team building. These activities may include crafts, outdoor skills, games, bonfires and more. Stone & Compass takes care of the cost for all meals, activities, and lodging.
